Boy, 7, Honored With Medal For Dying Trying to Protect Sister, 12, From Rapist

Russia: A boy in Noginsk-9 has been posthumously honored for dying two months ago while fending off a robber from raping his 12-year-old sister, Yana. 7-year-old Zhenya Tabakov's mother, Galina, will receive the order of courage medal for him.

Yana said she opened the door one day to a man who held her at knifepoint as he told Zhenya to give him all the money they had. After doing this, the suspect began undressing Yana, at which point Zhenya grabbed the knife and stabbed him in the back.

Although it freed Yana, Zhenya suffered eight stab wounds, killing him. Sergey Kiyashko, 35, is being held in the crime, with plenty of evidence against him, police say. The ceremony was seemingly attended by everyone in the small military town.
